This is a baseline out-of-bounds play against man-to-man defense.
Player of coach’s choice inbounds the ball. Remaining players are positioned as follows: one on the ball-side block, one on the foul-line, one at the top of the key, and one on opposite wing.
How It Works
The foul-line player runs out to the ball-side wing and receives the inbound pass. He/She immediately swings the ball to the player at the top of the key. The block player then flashes across the paint, looking for a pass from the top player. As this occurs, the player who inbounded the ball steps up and sets a backscreen for the player on the ball-side wing. The wing player runs hard off the backscreen, looking for a lob or entry pass from the top player.
Key Coaching Points
-First option: block player flashing across the paint.
-Second option: wing player running off the backscreen.
