This is a baseline out-of-bounds play against man-to-man defense.
Player of coach’s choice inbounds the ball. Remaining players are positioned as follows: one on each block, one in the middle of the paint, and one at the top of the key.
How It Works
The player on the ball-side block sets a screen for the player in the middle of the paint, who runs off to the ball-side corner and receives the inbound pass. The player on the opposite block flashes to the ball-side wing and receives the next pass. As this occurs, the player who inbounded the ball runs up and sets a backscreen for the player at the top of the key. The ball-carrier looks to throw a backdoor pass or lob to the top player as he/she runs off the backscreen to the rim.
Key Coaching Points
-Timing is everything. The inbound player must wait to set the backscreen until the player on the opposite block catches the pass on the ball-side wing.
