This is a baseline out-of-bounds play against man-to-man defense.
Player of coach’s choice inbounds the ball. Remaining players are positioned as follows: one on the ball-side block, one on the ball-side wing, and one on each elbow.
How It Works
The player on the ball-side wing cuts hard in front of the block player looking for a quick entrance pass and finish. If the pass is not available, he/she continues out to the opposite corner. As this occurs, the player on the opposite elbow runs over the ball-side elbow to the wing. Finally, the ball-side block player turns up and sets a backscreen for the ball-side elbow player, who runs off the screen to the rim. The screener should then find open space.
Key Coaching Points
-First option: ball-side wing player cutting under the block (block player should stand high enough to allow the cut to occur).
-Second option: opposite elbow running to ball-side wing.
-Third option: backscreen to the rim.
